Here are my 5 predictions for the world of Product Management in 2023. I'm really curious about number 2! :
𝟭. 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀
Do you think ChatGPT and DALL-E are impressive? Wait for what comes next and how will it change our world! Picture a world where you can talk to your phone like you chat with ChatGPT and ask it in the natural language all you need! Not stiff and unreliable commands you provide to Google Assistant or Alexa. Imagine describing your dream poster to an AI and having a service that prints it and sends it to your door. Imagine an AI doctor that can quickly and reliably diagnose what is wrong with you, either at home or early triage in a hospital!
𝟮. 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗥
Yeah, I know - it's easy to say that either of the opposites will happen. However, so far I can see that as VR is now, it's something of a game console or a geeky device. Nothing near a revolution similar to the smartphone one. In my option, there are 2 ways this can change. Either the headset becomes literally as big as glasses and very useful in day-to-day stuff (we are not there yet with tech) or Apple will lead the way and show everyone how it is done. Or their rumoured device will flop and we'll remain on the disappointing trajectory.
𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀
With AI kicking in and companies fighting for every client, I believe that sectors like banking will need to treat each user very personally. That means the same level of care as with a personal banking assistant but driven by technology with minimum human input. Similar approaches can be adopted by restaurants and other businesses. Just to stress, I don't mean things like AI recommending you books based on your earlier purchase. It's a whole other level of personalisation!
𝟰. 𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 a "𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹" 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲
Now, not sure this will happen next year, but with dozen or so video streaming services, I think it's only a matter of time before someone manages to unite them all and allow us access to a wider library of content. This would either mean a single UI where you can pin all your subscriptions, and pay separately, but have all content in one UI/app OR have all the content and pay on demand per movie/series,
𝟱. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲
With the potential economic crisis incoming due to lots of potential ignition points, the market will have much less cash to spend. In such cases, the products either adapt their offer to slimmer wallets or they will perish. I think an example of that is Netflix and Disney Plus having a cheaper subscription with ads.
There you have it! Do you agree with my predictions? What would you add to this list? Looking forward to reading your comments!
